My take on some chesterfield look furnitures.
The whole idea with this project is: Should I buy some chesterfield look furnitures ? 1 or 2 chairs ?, or maybe the 2 or 3 person couch would fit in? and how would they look in my living-room ?.
At some point I also decided to try to get them to AR so I can really see it in my livingroom and how much space it takes. After trying several AR apps some kinda working, some way to expensive, some slow and others came out way to dark and other problems.. I found the Adobe Aero actually was quite good and came out with decent results, the lack of rotation and movement once you place is the biggest issue atm.
I use Maya to model the furnitures I basicly only had to make 1 and then re-use that model for the other furniture versions. The biggest challenge was the pattern of the leather and making that rounded corner without streching/pinching. Once I made the tileable pattern, I used bend modifyers to round it up and then reworked the streched and pinched areas at the bendings to a point where I was happy with the results. Once done with the 3D modeling and UV/Unwrap I then exported into Substance Painter for the texturing part.
For rendering I only used Substance Stager rather than Maya's own Arnold. I did this to save time and get good results fast with the PSD output so that I in Photoshop could do some minor color-corrections, blur effect, masking ect. I took some own photos of my living-room with my Canon-Eos 2000D camera to use in Substance Stager with camera matching and self adjustments.
What are your thoughts for this livingroom ?, I will go for 1 chair should I add another one or go for a 1 chair 1 couch ?
Adobe Aero (Beta) is used as AR on a Ipad.
